Welcome back to Pickleball!
It has been a difficult couple of years to grow this
sport we love, but we are happy to announce the C-K
Pickleball Club is back in business with some new and
old faces on the Board.
I’m back as your President with Ron Rush back as VP,
Chris Calway as Treasurer, Peter Roelofsen as Secretary
and Sandra McAvoy as our director at large.
We had a lot on our agenda for our first meeting on
March 21 and will have more announcements of activities for our members coming soon.
We look forward to the opportunities and challenges
to bring more pickleball to more people.
Remember our club motto
Omnes et fun fun
Fun for all and all for fun
Come on out to our first event
On Wednesday, April 14th from 5:30 – 7:00 pm we invite all current members
and anyone who has an interest in joining the club to stop by the WISH Centre
to say hello and play a few fun games and to meet the new CK Pickleball Club
board and other members.
Register for this event at www.ckpickleball.com under EVENTS.
You can purchase your membership online any time at www.ckpickleball.com
under MEMBERSHIP FORMS.
As we are all coming out of the past two years with very limited options for playing pickleball, we hope you will consider joining the
Chatham-Kent Pickleball Club for 2022.
Outdoor court update
Doug Allin Courts
We have been in contact with the CK Recreation department. Cracks will be repaired this
spring or summer at the Doug Allin courts.
This will be our main base for outdoor club
play and a port-a-potty will be provided for
comfort.
New dedicated outdoor pickleball courts
Funding has been received from the Provincial
and Municipal governments for dedicated outdoor pickleball courts in Chatham-Kent.
Plans for court allocation within ChathamKent is ongoing and we will be consulted once
site plans are ready.
Indoor court update
WISH Centre
Thank you Jamie and Tammie for hosting and encouraging pickleball at
the WISH Centre.
The WISH Centre has drop in pickleball on Tuesday and Thursday mornings
from 8:00—10:00 am and on Tuesday evenings from 5:30—8:00 pm. Cost
for drop in is $5 per session.
Contact the WISH Centre for details at 519-354-5238.
Bubble anyone?
There is a group working to have a winter court bubble erected seasonally
at the Doug Allin courts beside John McGregor SS for both tennis and pickleball.
Mark and Stephanie Chapados have been spearheading this endeavour and
have secured some financial commitments and are looking to make this a
reality!
They have created a survey which I hope you can invest a few minutes
and complete. Cut and paste this into a your internet browser.
